A
Healthy Spirituality
We
are living in a very exciting & transformational time. The big shift
that is happening is from unhealthy religion to healthy spirituality.
Unhealthy religion is man-made & divides people. It teaches there
is only one right way; teaches the need for special ritual to be
connected to God & to be saved; discourages questioning & choice;
has rigid rules & dogma; controls with fear, guilt, blame, shame
& usually has an obsession with the Bible or holy books. It restrains
& comes from the context that we are separate from God.
Healthy
spirituality is positive, creative self-empowerment; encourages
choices, questioning & exploration; appreciates difference & variety;
teaches acceptance & that we are immersed in the Infinite Presence
& Power therefore it is within us; it is an adult relationship with
God, instead of childish dependence.
It
is important that we identify some old, outdated childhood image(s)
of God:
- Santa
Claus who rewards us for being good;
- Bogeyman
who is out to get us;
- Superman
who will rescue us from trouble.
How
much of childhood images of God have we carried into adulthood?
At
the Centre for Self Awareness we teach & learn how to transform
any unhealthy, dysfunctional childhood images of God into healthy
images we truly desire as a positive, creative empowered adult.
Healing spiritual wounds involves sorting through our religious
baggage, our "God-Box", to uncover & discover what is in our way
of a healthy spirituality & relationship with our Creator God.
A
healthy adult relationship with God includes: choice, self honesty,
being able to discover options & solutions; responsibility, the
ability to respond (not react) mentally, emotionally & physically;
action, making positive changes, being willing to do things differently
& go in a new direction; understanding that choice & actions can
be changed which allows us to take risks & move through our fears.
I
acknowledge each & every one of you for your courage in healing
unhealthy religious wounds & for placing yourself into the Centre's
environment & aligning with our vision of generating a global awakening
to spiritual freedom: a healthy spirituality.
Namaste,
Gail Schultz
