How it began...
One dark September night in 1977, a ¾-ton truck and a brand-new car, in which she was in as a passenger, changed the direction Gail Schultz's life.
The speeding truck ran a red light and struck the car broadside, on the passenger side. She was taken, unconscious, to an Edmonton area hospital. The prognosis was poor.
Gail remembers little of the weeks she spent in hospital after the collision. Her body severely damaged and in a coma, she hovered between this world and the next. She remained six weeks in the intensive care unit and underwent five separate surgeries.
Gail survived, discharging herself much earlier than the attending medical personnel advised. She talks about going home and looking out her back door at the splendour of a crisp fall Alberta day. She shed tears of gratitude and joy for life itself.
She gave up a career in real estate and dedicated her life to concentrate on what she refers to as, "a divine appointment."
Her direction set, Gail has made several course adjustments along the way. She obtained her doctorate in metaphysical philosophy and founded the Edmonton Centre for Self-Awareness. Then, in 1985 she and her husband, Norman Schultz, moved to British Columbia where they founded the Victoria Centre for Self-Awareness.
Gail studied in Canada and also in the United States, under the tutelage of Roy Eugene Davis at the Center for Spiritual Awareness in Georgia where she was ordained. Her training also included studies in family life education, group leadership and working with "blended" families.
Gail has instructed for the Concept Therapy Institute, the Energy and Man Foundation, Family Life Education, and Singles Resource Councils. She participated in the annual International New Thought Alliance [INTA] conventions along with other New Thought leaders from all over the world. Gail is currently serving as President of the NTA-Canada. Gail has created and facilitated numerous seminars, conducted many workshops in connection with the Centre for Self-Awareness and has also appeared as a featured speaker before many local government agencies, institutions and corporations.
Gail and Norman shared a blended family of nine children, 13 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren. Gail's husband Norman Schultz made his transition, February 12, 2004.
A Message from Gail
"I wouldn't have survived that auto collision without my belief in New Thought. When I was in that hospital I made a conscious decision to live.
Sometime — I don't know exactly how long, — after being taken to the hospital I remember traveling very fast through darkness toward a bright silver light. It was very, very bright, brighter than you can imagine any light could be. A warm peaceful feeling spread through my entire being as the light totally enveloped me. As soon as I entered the light, I thought, ‘I want to go back, I want to return.' And, instantaneously I was back in my body.
I had unfinished business. Starting the Centres for Self-Awareness that I have has been a large part of that business, — so is leading others to a higher state of consciousness.
We are spiritual beings in a spiritual universe governed by spiritual law. My total recovery from that near fatal collision was a pivotal experience in my life, and for me, serves as a powerful demonstration that New Thought principles work—a message I continue to share with all who come to the Centre."
